Surgical Procedures

When a person begins to think about having a cosmetic plastic surgical procedure, there are many sources of information, some good, some not so good, that may be accessed on the internet, from friends, from articles, or other sources. It can be quite confusing, sorting out what is good information and exactly what the terms mean. At that point, our board-certified plastic surgeon—Dr. Jeffrey Copeland—can help you understand and decide which procedure(s) can best achieve your unique goals. At Copeland Cosmetic Surgery, we offer a modern selection of operations and treatments designed to improve the appearance of the face, body, and breasts. Dr. Copeland also performs male plastic surgery procedures that can help create and maintain a masculine look. In many cases, it is possible to perform multiple procedures in one session to combine recovery time and make the procedures more affordable. Dr. Copeland’s focus is always on patient safety and providing natural-looking, beautiful results, both in the operating room and for our non-surgical treatments.

Breast Procedures

Breast surgery, which makes up a significant part of Dr. Copeland’s practice and comes in many forms, is usually sought for very personal reasons. Dr. Copeland’s expertise and experience is extensive in performing breast surgery to enhance the size and shape of the breasts, as well as to rejuvenate the breasts for a more youthful appearance. He understands that every breast is unique and deserves individual attention. With procedures such as breast augmentation, breast lift (mastopexy), and breast reduction, he can improve breast appearance including providing better symmetry, increasing or decreasing breast volume, and reducing any sagging or drooping due to excess or lax skin, as frequently happens after childbearing or with aging. For women who have undergone a mastectomy, breast reconstruction can help restore their feminine figure, as well as their confidence in their body image. This is a very important part of the care of patients who are already dealing with very stressful circumstances that have brought about the loss of the breast(s).

Body Procedures

Sometimes we are genetically destined to have unsatisfactory body contours. Those contours and body shape can also be the result of aging, significant changes in weight or after pregnancy or illness. Areas of unsatisfactory appearance may be the result of excess fat or skin and are common cosmetic concerns for women and men. With body contouring procedures, Dr. Copeland can sculpt and refine the natural curves of the body to achieve the patient’s desired look. Body contouring procedures, such as liposuction, can be used to target nearly any area of the body, including the abdomen, flanks (love handles), thighs, buttocks, back, arms, and neck. Even patients who are at or near their ideal weight, but who have laxity of the skin, may find a procedure such as abdominoplasty can help them attain a more toned appearance. Women who have had children often choose a Mommy Makeover to rejuvenate the body after pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. For patients who have lost a significant amount of weight or undergone bariatric surgery, a body lift can tighten loose, sagging skin for a more toned, defined silhouette.

Facial Procedures

Facial plastic surgery procedures can be used to reverse many common signs of the natural aging process. Blepharoplasty (upper and/or lower eyelid surgery) is a procedure Dr. Copeland frequently performs to rejuvenate the area around the eyes for a more youthful appearance. A facelift, one of the most common plastic surgery procedures, can help tighten the neck (which many patients find to be their most unsatisfactory area), as well as minimize sagging skin, wrinkles, and fine lines. Procedures for nose appearance, such as rhinoplasty, can be used to improve overall facial harmony. During the consultation process, Dr. Copeland can help you learn about and choose which facial procedure is best suited for your personal goals.

Male Procedures

When planning a surgical procedure for a man versus a woman, there are many anatomical differences and aesthetic preferences that should be considered. For example, men typically have thicker facial skin compared to women. In addition, male patients are often especially concerned about preserving a natural-looking aesthetic and avoiding an “overdone” look. There are also certain choices, particularly with facial procedures, that can maintain or enhance a masculine appearance. Dr. Copeland listens closely to his patients’ goals during the consultation process, and can customize each procedure to meet his male patients’ needs.
